Nala is a 5 months old american stafford whos beginning of life was as happy as it could be. During her first 4 months of life nala was completely healthy and living a normal life, but on her 5th month of life she had a urinary infection, nothing complicated, we thought, so we took her to the vet to get a urinary test so she could be treated, what the vet told us was totally unexpected. Nala presented high levels of glucose in her urin, indicating that she was propably diabetic, the vet order a full blood test right away. When the results came back we were devastated, our biggest fear was true, Nala had developed diabetes at the super short age of 5 months  Almost inmediately, she began drinking water compulsively, to the point of throwing up later everything she drank. Her weight began to drop really fast. Since her vet was a little unsure about how to treat her, we took her to another vet. There they made an insulin curve for her, change her food for a special one and sent her some more medications, since her urinary infection was still there. Everything looked a little bit more normal for her after that, until 2 weeks later we noticed her eye was looking funny, we rushed to the vet and they told us she was probably having an allergic reaction to something, gave her some medication and sent her home. Since her eye wasn’t getting any better we took her again to the vet and ask to leave her in observation, the clinic called a vet whos knowledge in ofthalmology were better, she’s not a specialist though, there is no such thing in our country. One day later the vet called us with terrible news: Nala lost one of her eyes because of her uncontrolled diabetes, the other one was in grave danger, too. Uncontrolled? We followed the vet’s indications perfectly and she was still getting worse. On the same day they discharged her we took her to a third vet. They admitted her right away, the new vet told us she was severely dehidrated and the glucose levels in her blood were very high, another blood test revealed that her infection was still there, despict our efforts to find a good vet, Nala was not getting any better. She’s been in the vet ever since, they made a new insulin curve for her, changed her insulin, treated her infection for the third time and the news aren’t getting better, she’s now refusing to eat, her weight is dropping fast again and she also began to drink wáter compulsively, we fear the worst… We are now planning to take her to a new vet, outside the country to try to save her life, but with the past 3 clinics we took her to, the vet who’s trying to save nala’s good eye (who’s charging us as if she was a certified speciallist) and everything we’re about to spend taking her out of the coutry and paying for a 4th vet, this is getting out of our hands financially. So we’re now asking for your help to keep her alive, to help her finally have a life as normal as posible, to help us find someone out there who can treat her disease Our family and Nala will be very grateful
