This is my son,Yohan, who was born prematurely and is still admitted in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the hospital that needs our help for his heart and lungs treatment.

Being a first time mom,I was very excited to take good care of my son,Yohan. My husband and I were trying to conceive a child for years and now that we've been blessed to have one,his life remains in danger for he came to soon.

Last March 15,2017 I gave birth to a 34 week old preemie via CS scondary to oligohydramnios(below normal amniotic fluid) because I had premature rupture of membranes 4days prior.I also had 10% ruptured placenta. When I heard first him cry,I was relieved, not until I saw him."WHY did he look so blue?".My fears came true upon getting back to my room when my mother told me that he was intubated and attached to a mechanical ventilator. My son has Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome,a condition which gas exchange in the lungs does not properly take place due to lack of surfactant which prevents the air sacs of the lungs from collapsing.

His lungs were not fully developed. He can't breathe on his own.

He was actually been given an artificial surfactant hours after birth, yet it has minimal effects on his lungs. He also developed pneumonia(hospital acquired) which added further damage to his lungs.

He was extubated from the vent after a month.I was very happy for I was able to carry him in my arms for the first time. However, after a week,he was reintubated again.

He developed Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia result from scarring/damage to the lungs due to prolonged use of a mechanicalventilator or long term use of oxygen. This also causes damage in the blood vessels around making passage of blood from the heart to the lungs more difficult. 2D echo revealed that he had Pulmonary Hypertension(high blood pressure in the lungs) and a Patent Foramen Ovale, a hole between the right and left atria or the upper chambers of the heart which should close naturally right after birth. Unless there are other defects, there are no complications from a Patent Foramen Ovale in most cases.

He also had recurrent infections that affected his recovery, although he had been consulted already to a infectious disease specialist which recommended him with strong antibiotics.

Two months had passed and he is still attached in a mechanical ventilator and admitted in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) which is very costly.

At present his medical expenses amounted 700thousand pesos($15,000) and counting. My husband and I provided him everything that we can to pay for his bills but still it wasn't enough.

We've started this fund raising campaign hoping that you can help us save our son through his continuous medical treatment .

He had undergone several procedures and treatments at a very young age,yet he remained strong fighting for his life. We named him Yohan for it means God is gracious and merciful.

We would appreciate and be forever grateful for all your help and prayers.
