MANNY IS HOME!!!

In June, Manny was confined at the George Dewey Hospital in Olongapo City, Subic bay, Philippines, to save his right foot. Manny begged his doctors to save his foot. He has gone through so many painful debridement, multiple regimen of antibiotics but the progress is still slow.

The combination antibiotics had done Manny well, arresting wide spread bacterial infection, but still, as in open wounds, stubborn bacteria still exist. Therefore, aggravated infection, gangrene and sepsis are still probable risks that can happen anytime. Manny is off antibiotics, at the moment and care is still critical. The reason healing is a challenge is the deficient vascular function.

So, we continue to raise funds to get Manny a much needed vascular surgery, such as an angioplasty or a bypass graft. Vascular Surgery is a very specialized field. Manny had earlier declined the services of a vascular surgeon for lack of funds ($225 for a consultation). But now, it is the only hope. If admitted to the National Kidney and Transplant Institute, the procedure can cost around $10,000-12,500. So, all told we need to raise $20,000 for Manny.

Malyn, Manny’s wife, is a very hard working elementary teacher, but she earns barely enough for the needs of the children, who are still in school.
