We don’t know who and where to turn to in this dire situation…we don’t know how we can even begin to plead for your assistance particularly during this difficult time, but we are praying and trusting in our Lord’s mercy to touch your hearts to help us bring to “Nang Amay” the urgent surgery she needs for a lease in life.

Evangeline Indab Eroyla, fondly called “Nang Amay” by everyone in barangay Sumirap, Tangub City is a homemaker who also works in the farm alongside her husband. On the evening of August 25th, she slipped and fell on her way to the restroom. Thinking it was a minor fall, she resorted to traditional medicines to relieve the pain, but left without medical treatment, her back pain became chronic and later worsened. As her condition progressed, her movement became impaired. She developed difficulty in walking, urinating and defecating. This prompted the family to bring her to the clinic of Dr. Elbert Ybanez where she was initially diagnosed with Burst Fracture L2 R/O Pathologic Fracture and referred her to Manila for further medical treatment and management.

The diagnosis confirms an injury from a significant trauma in which the vertebra, the primary bone of the spine, breaks in multiple directions. The force from the severe fall shattered her vertebral body separating the bone fragments while compressing the others and compromised her vertebra’s ability to support her spine. This presented serious problems now because some of the bone fragments are displaced into her spinal canal causing pressure on her nerves and impairing her lower body’s functions. Now, she reels with severe back pain that is worse with movement and experiences numbness, tingling sensation and weakness, including loss of her bowel and bladder control. To minimize injury to the spinal cord which is now already swelling, she’s referred for an urgent spine surgery at the Philippine Orthopedic Center in Banawe, Quezon City. The surgery is expected to cost P250,000 excluding medications and pre-surgery lab tests.

Even though two of her kids are grown up and are working hard to support her needs, they have their own families and they’re afraid they could not sustain the burden of the medical cost. Their construction jobs are also affected by the current pandemic.

It is for this reason that I am humbly begging you, on behalf of Ryan Eroyla, Nang Amay's son and the family, for any amount you can donate to help this family save the light of their home, their mother, Nang Amay. She and her husband are currently in Manila and staying with us. I can’t express how much our hearts bleed as we witness this family fervently praying and keeping high hopes despite the uncertainty of ever getting any treatment or being able to provide for their needs. I believe, with God, nothing is impossible, and I believe there are still many of you whose empathy and generosity will make this campaign possible. Once again, I ask you to please join me in lifting this family’s burden and giving them hope for a miracle. Above all, I am asking for your prayers and intercession.

Thank you so much.

Sincerely,

Jhona Burgonia Engano
