Campaign Story
Typhoon Relief for Hagumgang Theme Museum in Geoje Isaland, South Korea
If you wish to donate directly to our museum, please use below address for the recipient.
Haegeumgang Theme Museum in Geoje island, South Korea is well-known for providing an international art platform to promote artists around the world. Through the numerous exhibitions and the international art fairs artists are recognized by art lovers and collectors. Artists boost their regional and cultural art exchange ideas, and they do share their creations with public. Haegeumgang Theme Museum holds annual international art festivals since 2015. The 5th international art festival Freedom and Peace would go until the end of October, 2019.
Our museum has experienced an unprecedented natural disaster by the typhoon 'TAPHA'.
On the 23 of September, we were attacked by the typhoon which caused a complete damage to the roof of the building and some major parts of exteriors including entrance with outside sculptures. Neither art pieces inside nor the staffs are injured, but, unfortunately, Korean insurance company will not cover this kind of specific typhoon damages. And in the current Korean Administrative system, the museum is owned by 'individual', so they counted this museum as 'Private property' which cannot be reimbursed by government. Therefore, we cannot expect any financial help other than donation in the current status.
We need financial support to repair the buildings and outside installations. The cost of this project will be over $400,000. Over the coming days, the museum will be hiring a professional cleaners and builders to lead the clean up of our debris and to rebuild our rooftops. 100% of your donations will go towards these efforts.
In addition to monetary donations, the museum will be sharing sustainable art and cultural exchange ideas with international artists to help for others.
Any contribution will be massively appreciated.
