Sumatran Tiger is on a brink of extinsion. It is classified as a critically endangered species by IUCN, and within its Redlist species. In 2017, this big cat's population is estimated only around 400-600 individuals.Currently, Rimbang-baling as one of the Tiger's most important habitat face multiple threats. The already meager number is always in constant threat from outside world, primarily form human illegal interference.
My name is Akbar Digdo, and currently i'm working with Yapeka, trying to do whatever we can to safeguard this tiger's habitat. Yapeka has been working hard in Rimbang Baling since 2015 and are still doing our activities in this beautiful place until now. We are working together with the community by develop alternative livelihood for them, so they have other source of income, thus relieving some weight from the forest by reducing the number of unsustainable exploitations such as illegal logging. Other than that, we are also promoting the harmony living between the locals with natural environment through traditional values by various method, such as community radio and direct campaign in local school.
To ensure the success of this program, we need to do it continuously and vigorously to ensure the community's behaviour change. If it is stopped too early, they might come back to their old ways, thus will adds pressure to the tiger's habitate. In order to keep the continuation of the program, donation is necessary. Through this initiatives from Gogetfunding.com, Yapeka is hoping to get enough funding to support our activities in Rimbang-Baling forest, Indonesia. Hopefully you can contribute through this program, for the better future both to the local community, and to this majestic species, The Sumatran Tiger.
