This is the last picture that was taken of our family together unless we do something about our situation it will always be ...
We are a Syrian family that was divided two years ago by the turmoil arising in our country. Our only wish is to be reunited again.
My mother, Sawsan Ghazal, is currently living in Sweden while my father, Ourwa Alaraj, my two sisters Joud (19) and Cidra(15), and myself (20) live in Turkey as a refugees.
On February 2014 mother risked her life in one of the most dangerous trips there is, only so she could insure the safety of our family´s future in hopes of providing a better life for us. Please take a moment to read the full story in the link below.

Joud and I were born with Thalassemia Major; a rare genetic blood condition requiring regular blood transfusions every 15 days to keep us alive, as well as daily iron chelating drugs to remove the life threatening excess iron present in our bodies as a side-effect of the transfusions.
As if our lives weren’t confusing enough, back in 2005 during a routine transfusion Joud and I contracted Hepatitis C from bad blood. Due to the expensive nature of the treatment for Hepatitis C, we haven`t been able to receive any treatment at all since the diagnosis.
Our family has always been there to support Joud and I. Without their care and love we would've never made it this far in life .

When we started our journey out of Syria we desired a country where human rights and health care were as advanced as possible, so we decided upon Sweden.
My mother settled there and our applications have been pending since August 8th, 2014. Recently, we were given a response: My Father and my youngest sister Cidra should be departing at the end of the month to be reunited with my mother in Sweden. Unfortunately, Joud and I weren’t so lucky; our applications were denied, forcing our family to separate even further.
This could be the last picture we take together, unless we collect enough money to travel to Sweden safely , so we can all together see my mother again and feel her warm embrace.
My name is Abdalsalam. I am 20 years old. I will never lose hope in humanity. We are good, and I am sure of that. However, for the first time in my life I don`t know what to do. My sister and I will die without our healthcare, and we can not get proper healthcare without help. The war at home has taken everything from us and We can`t live alone in Turkey.
beside all that we must start taking treatment against the Hepatitis C before it gets worst and destroy us .
we've always laughed in the face of death for many years, we didn't care how dangerous are the thalassemia and the hepatitis C , because we always had our family to support us and care for us ...
but.. maybe there will be no next time . I know I'm asking a lot , but who can blame desperate son and daughter who dreams about their family reunion and their mother's warm hugs ....
so please.. save my divided family ....
