Diagnosis: Ehrlichiosis (Canine Dengue)
JJ's Story
JJ is a loving maltese from the Philippines. He's 6 years old and wants to live his life to the fullest. Recently, his left eye became blind and the other was experiencing dry eyes. We were advised that he should undergo enucleation. The surgery was successful. Then, the pandemic happened. We noticed that he's bleeding through his nose and eyes. We have him checked again in the nearest veterinary clinic in our town Bulacan.
Jj's positive with Canine Dengue and is Anemic. His platelet is 39 only, while the normal platelet count must be atleast 200. He doesn't show any signs of this disease before (sub-clinical) until it became clinical (his nose bleed, may also be the cause of his blindness). He's now confined in a vet clinic here in Bulacan. We've been struggling to find money in this trying times. Because of the pandemic, we only have limited funds, but we can't afford to lose our JJ. The estimated vet bills is more or less Php 15,000 (or almost $300 US) - includes blood transfusion fee if the prescribed medicines didn't work. In this humbling situation, I am asking for your prayers and support. 2020 is really a rough year.

We managed to buy his remaining medicines through other fundraising activities such as borrowing money from good people, and selling liptints for a cause. JJ's. . . . .

Update posted by Mary Joy Gutierrez at 03:47 pmJJ's panting heavily due to his anemia. On May 21, will go back to his vet for another tests to confirm if the medicines prescribed were working on him. We are hoping for the best!

He was prescribed with painkillers and anti-inflammatory medicines. His right eye was diagnosed with dry eyes syndrome.
