About three months ago, my 18-year old sister, Jhollina, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Jhollina was a consistent honor student in her class. She joined several contests such as public speaking, quiz bees and press conferences. She has a lot of dreams she wants to pursue. She told me that someday, she wants to be a journalist and study in UP, too. However, this news regarding her health condition shattered the dreams of my sister.
According to the result of the first bone marrow aspiration procedure, the blasts(cancer cells) were already 77% in her body. The doctors said that she needed to undergo chemotherapy as soon as possible to eliminate the blasts. Given the nature of the chemotherapy sessions she would need, she was confronted that there is a high chance that she might not survive the first cycle and she might not last until Christmas. My sister refused to take chemotherapy as she believes that God has already healed her without having to experience the hellish pain of the sessions. Thank God, we were able to celebrate Christmas and New Year together.
We respected her decision since we thought that she needed to have faith on the treatment she is taking to translate its positive effects on her health. We looked for alternative natural medicines and she has been trying it for almost two months now. These medicines cost about 9,000 per week. As the sole person in the family with a stable job, 9,000 per week is already heavy for me given that I alone pay the bills, rent , school expenses of my other siblings and other expenses at home. The medicines were doing good on her health until this second week of January, when she got colds and had flu again. Her immune system became weaker and she was bedridden again. Her bones are already hurting and almost everyday, she is wailing because of sharp pains in her legs, hips and arms. Her swollen lymph nodes are now more prominent in her face and neck.
According to the doctor of alternative medicine, she needs to undergo a "Triox Therapy". This would involve medicines in IV drips that would cleanse her blood. She needs to undergo a series of blood chelation for two to three months and it would cost us 49,500 per week. The treatment would be 5 days a week.
I am appealing to your hearts to please help us save my sister. We wanted to exhaust all possible alternative treatments as much as possible. We would be willing to accept any amount from your generous hearts. Please help Jhollina fulfill her dreams in the future. Please include her in your prayers, too. Thank you so much! May God bless us all.
