On July 2012, my dad suffered from major stroke and half his body was paralyzed. Thru prayers and our family working together, our dad was able to survive and was able to live quite normally, just without the complete freedom to move around. He can no longer walk by himself; his vision was affected; and can’t really do his daily routine without someone assisting him.
After a few hospitalizations over the years, last November 2018, he had to undergo emergency hemodialysis treatment due to his extremely high creatinine level. He was very irritable and had a minor heart attack. His kidneys failed. The treatments since then had been regular, undergoing hemodialysis at least thrice a week. His case became bad to worse and had to stay in the ICU for almost a month. Still, God is good and have given us a dad who is a fighter. His situation again got better and he got out the hospital with his hemodialysis treatment lessened to twice a week.
It has been more than half a year of hemodialysis. His hemoglobin count has been abnormally low and needed again blood transfusions. He was hospitalized for a few days for blood transfusion and close monitoring but due to lack of funds for hospitalization, we requested for a discharge when he started acting normal enough.
Last July 18, 2019, he suffered a seizure four times. He had one at home, in the car, in the hospital emergency room twice. Doctors suspected a re-stroke but it was unclear at first until eventually, again, he got better and he started responding but he was extremely weak. Other complications started building up: with his hemoglobin count low, he was referred to a gastroenterologist for an endoscopy to check for internal bleeding. While his fistula for dialysis had to be transferred on the third time now since it became infected. Now he again needs blood.
Our family has exhausted all our means to provide for my Dad’s medical bills. Our family tries to make ends meet day-to-day with what salary we are getting. But now, the hospital will not continue his medication and treatment unless we pay half the hospital bill. Today, our running bill is approaching PHP300,000/USD 5,870 (doctors professional fees excluded). It continues to add up.
While no amount will ever be worth more than your prayers, we are knocking on your kind hearts to help our family during this extremely challenging time. If you would like to make a financial donation to help my Dad, please use this site to make a contribution. Any amount will definitely make a big difference.
We would also appreciate blood donations who live locally.
From sons and daughters to another, please help us save our Dad. Alone we can do so little, but together I know, we can do something as big as saving a life.
May God bless your hearts more.
