Madam Yawa Tengey, 54 years, was recently diagnosed of cervical and lumbar spine stenosis . This was detected late and so it has caused a lot of damage to her spine. Doctors advise that she should undergo immediate surgery (cervical and lumbar spine decompression and fusion. Her situation is life threatening. As at now,she can hardly walk.

There is problem with the spine. According to the doctor the disc in the spine is degenerated (herniated disc) and as a result the cord/nerve in the spine is compressed, causing something that the doctor medically describe as SPINAL STENOSIS. This problem has occurred at the neck (cervical spine stenosis ) and also at the lower back (lumber spine stenosis).

The doctors say it is life threatening and can paralyse

her and that surgery is urgently needed to decompress the nerves.

The patient is in constant pain and cannot walk.

She was receiving treatment at the Cocoa Clinic but the doctors there realised that problem could only be solved in the tertiary Institution and was therefore referred to the Korlebu Teaching hospital in Accra.

She needs two separate surgeries to correct the ailment.

The first surgery is scheduled for November 2017.
