Save Woodend’s historic streetscape

Update posted by Todd Langtry On Dec 06, 2016

Hi Folks

As part of the VCAT hearing we became aware that Council is currently considering the development of a further six units on the land behind Islay House - bringing the total to 20 units. Sadly this doesn't come as a surprise as now that Council has given the green light to 14 high density units, adding six more will be in keeping with the new neighbourhood character.

If we win our case at VCAT hopefully this will give us enough ammunition to defeat this additional proposal at Council rather than having to spend $10,000 contesting it at VCAT.

Good luck. Another inappropriate development to be knocked on the head. Looking forward to some new leadership at the council.

Really cross that such an inappropriate development is even being proposed in this area of Woodend. Greedy developers with no interest in Woodend and preserving the village. Also I thought Macedon Shire Council had planned for limited developments in woodend. So surely a mass medium density development next to such a beautiful old property with a significant historical importance to the area is totally preposterous.
