This where the journey begins in search of water. Villagers descending down towards a dry river bed in hope of getting water. The community walks a long distance to a seasonal river Junju which mostly runs dry.
This is a hand dug depression, a male volunteer comes forward to carry out the digging task. Then they have to wait for water to accumulate from the tiny holes to fill the dug hole.
Water seeps through the holes after digging the dried river bed, now they have to wait for a while so that sand, clay and water can decant before its fit for use. After decantation then mainly the women come for the collection of the water and fill up their plastic containers for domestic use.Clean water. What many of us enjoy as a simple readily accessible amenity, for some, it is an unattainable luxury. However i was determined to aid the community in Bomani Village by building a borehole. After an immense amount of perseverance and provision of funding we were able to construct a borehole for the community to gain access to clean water.
Now what poses as a major challenge is the inability to drill other boreholes for nearby communities, rather than seeking funding for all future projects, buying a used rig and drilling free borehole is the solution to provision of clean and safe water for domestic usage.
The fundraising goal is to drill a minimum of 20 boreholes in a year to ensure more girls go to school instead of walking miles in search of water.
