SAVE THE OAST HOUSE COMMUNITY CENTRE - BY FOUR SEASONS COMMUNITY CO-OPERATIVE

We are Four Seasons Community Co-Operative, a recently formed collective of residents from the now-evicted Runnymede Eco Village in Englefield Green, Surrey. We have taken over the Oast House, an ex-adult Learning Centre in Staines Town centre.

The Oast House itself has been lying empty and unused for approximately 8 years, and now Surrey County Council want to sell it off privately. The Oast House tells an interesting historical story of Staines, and it's wrong to take it out of public hands to be redeveloped.

The Four Seasons Community have begun to petition Surrey County Council, asking them to list the building as a Asset of Community Value. This would mean that any decision regarding the development of the building has to be held in public, with the local residents getting a say in any planning application. This would also include a clause that the building must be used to benefit the community.

We need to raise £251 to cover printing costs - as part of our campaign, we would like to be able to flyer door to door in the local area, meaning our petition is as comprehensive as possible - something the Council requested when we met today.
