Campaign Story
Three leopards Java, recently out of the forest in the area Jatiyoso, Karanganyar and animal pounced Gandri residents in the hamlet, village Wonokeling. They are expected to come out as disturbed by the activities of local residents who took the tiger's child.
Java leopard (Panthera pardus) is unique to the island of Java, and has been declared in critical status alias endangered by international conservation organization IUCN and included in the Red List since 2008. The population of this animal is believed to have lived 250 tail where habitat narrowed , Leopard habitat is estimated at 2,267 square km to 3,277 square km.
Their habitat which has been known is in the areas of national parks in mountain areas such as the National Park (TN) Mountain Mist, Ujung Kulon, TN Gunung Gede Pangrango, TN Ceremai, all in West Java. Furthermore Merbabu TN, TN Merapi in Central Java and TN Bromo Tengger Semeru, Meru Betiri, TN and TN Baluran Alas Purwo National Park in East Java.
They are known to live in dense tropical forests, mountains and forests, dry scrub. During the years 2001-2004, conducted research in the area TN Mountain Mist, West Java, using automatic cameras and radio tracking. Based on that study, a leopard known Java able to adapt to an environment that has characterized human activity. They used to use a man-made walkway to facilitate their movement.
Female tiger range area reached 9.82 square km. This leopard has two patterns of color that is bright yellow color denganb black spots and black color with black spots surrounded by silvery doings, so it is often also called a panther. Based on an automatic camera footage in TN Mountain Mist, is seen that the peak of their activity is at 6:00 to 9:00 and 15:00 to 18:00.
They only eat animal protein and a "menu" of their routine in the wild deer, deer, monkeys and monkeys and wild boar. If it has been pressed because it ran out of food in the forest, they sometimes go to the township and residents preying on livestock such as chickens or goats.
More dense habitat of Java make them constantly pressed. The number of forest clearing for agricultural activities, energy exploration or exploitation of forest products make their prey animals disappear. They are also threatened by poachers.
