Campaign Story
FOLKESTONE RAILWAY CLUB
CAN YOU HELP?
2020 has been a very challenging and difficult year for everybody with the Covid-19 pandemic.
Unfortunately, just as the club had turned the corner financially, it has now become evident that we are in very difficult times. The club has secured a small amount of grant funding etc. but sadly this is not enough to sustain the club for too much longer. Much has been going on behind the scenes with many hours hard work particularly from Chairman Ron Price, Secretary Michelle Rumsey and Steward Andy Parker to ensure the club has kept it’s head above water during very difficult times.
We are therefore taking the unprecedented step of asking members of the club and the wider community for financial donations, no matter how small – it will all be a great help and so gratefully received.
The Folkestone Railway Social Club opened in 1955 and has been at the heart of the local community for all those 65 years. The club has always been a very friendly, family orientated safe place for members and their guests to enjoy, offering very reasonable and cheap prices on beers, wines and spirits. Along with this, the club has enjoyed weekly Saturday night entertainment, as well as bingo nights, quiz nights and race afternoons. There have been wonderful free Christmas parties and pantomimes for the children and Halloween fun nights.
The club offers really nice facilities for birthday parties, christenings and even funeral receptions. The lounge bar has been available and regularly used by local societies and political groups for meetings.
Let’s not forget the darts teams, football team, pool and snooker teams and cribbage team…… they are essential to any club.
With all this in mind, the committee are determined to do all they can to endeavour to keep the club going into the future and will do all it takes to achieve this. It would be desperately sad to lose such a wonderful family club.
Please can you help? We are asking for donations, no matter how small – it will all help. We must fight to keep our beloved club alive.
Thank you so very much for your support.
