Save the Elephants

I am going to volunteer overseas with Edventure International. I specifically want to travel to Thailand. Edventure provides an amazing opportunity to spend 3 weeks in another country volunteering, experiencing the culture and helping to grow the local community. This experience is designed to help me grow as a person by challenging me to lead, to teach and to help the community I'm immersed in.

The program in Thailand is focused on several tasks; one is helping to teach the local village children, some of whom have to walk a very long distance to get to school. This program also spends time on building sustainable projects that the village needs, such as greenhouses or hydroponic systems. The exact projects they do vary depending on what village they are in and what that village needs, I won't know exactly what I'll be doing until closer to the time of the project. They also have amazing conservation efforts where I will work with an elephant sanctuary. I will have the opportunity to interact with these amazing creatures, learn about them and become an advocate for them. Anyone that knows me knows I love animals. My family has a joke about how all the sick and orphaned animals just fall into my lap when I'm walking by. I have already spent time rescuing many baby birds, a duck, a stray rabbit and even baby squirrels. I would love to have the opportunity to help out elephants in Thailand but I need your help raising the money so I can get there. I am really looking forward to this trip where I hope to really grow as a person and make a real impact on the world around me.

Any help you provide will be greatly appreciated. I am raising $3,800 for program cost, $1,100 toward the flight and some extra spending money for anything else needed and to support the local economy.
