While COVID-19 (the Coronavirus) is a threat to us all, without swift action, catastrophe looms for Palestinians in the occupied Palestinian territory. The health services provided for Palestinians are already massively compromised by a chronic lack of infrastructure, essential equipment, drugs, supplies, and human resources.

The threat of this new virus is dangerously increased for Palestinians by their living conditions, particularly in the refugee camps, where there is severe overcrowding, few hygiene facilities and extremely limited opportunity to effectively self-isolate.

We urgently need your support to help slow transmission and prevent the health systems in Gaza and the West Bank from being completely overwhelmed.

What are MAP’s plans to help slowdown the spread of the virus?

Immediately procure and distribute:

1. Vital antiseptics and disinfectants

2. Hygiene Kits for those most at risk

As and when the number of cases rises, our priorities for procurement will change to the drugs and medical supplies needed to treat the critically ill, but for now it’s imperative to try to stem the tide.

Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank are particularly vulnerable, with malnutrition on the rise (especially in young children and pregnant or breastfeeding women) poorly controlled non-communicable diseases in adults, high smoking rates and those who are elderly lacking access to proper nursing care.
