Hi, sadly the COVID-19 pandemic hasn't stopped the Crown-of-Thorns starfish from threatening our fragile coral reefs. This invasive species has the potential to destroy the delicate marine eco-system in the Philippines and this affects all of us - fishermen, tourism operators and the wider community. Until the pandemic hit, a group of dedicated dive resort operators in Southern Leyte donated their time and money to help control the Crown-of-Thorns starfish in our area. We ran a regular eradication program which was keeping our reefs safe. But since the pandemic hit, businesses are suffering and we are unable to donate the money needed to continue this important program. We are asking you to help out by donating money so this vital work can continue. Your donation will be used to employ and train local people who have lost their jobs because of the pandemic. The Crown-of-Thorns starfish eradication training and employment project will help support our communities in this time of need. It will give local people an income to help their families and provide training which will be useful into the future, as well as providing the equipment needed to run the program. Please help save our beautiful reefs and support our communities into the future by donating to this program. Every peso makes a difference.
