Hi! I'm Ron from Cebu, Philippines and I live near a boatyard where I've befriended sailors and boat owners. I was saddened to learn that there were many boats that were left to rot by owners who could no longer sustain the upkeeping of their boats due to physical and financial reasons.
This boatyard is also were I caught wind of SUNSHINE, a 36'ft sloop, she has been sitting idle for 2 years now, the owner is now too old to sail, and is struggling to sell the boat due to the pandemic.
I had the opportunity to liveaboard as a crew on a Swan 65' for a year. The life changing experience at sea was what fueled my aspiration to own a boat.
Currently, I have started to set aside money from my pay as an admin support.
I'm gonna try to shoot for the moon, and ask for your financial support so that I could buy SUNSHINE and save her from further damage, I feel that she deserves another chance at sea.
If successful, I plan to use her as a way to educate people about caring for the sea/environment and offer her for charters to cover her upkeeping. Hopefully, when Covid restrictions are lifted, donors can come on board for a tour, as a gratitude.
if you want to know more about me or the boat or if you have any awesome suggestions, feel free to drop me an email here: [email protected] and I'll happily respond to your queries.
P. S. why that boat?...I shared a joyful sailing memory of her before, and having experienced trials and death of a loving mother last 2020, as I move on to a new chapter of my life, I see Sunshine as a reminder for me to look on the bright side of life as I continue to be a blessing to others.
