Save Sudu: Suffering from DKA

Sudu was adopted by my family 4 years ago when he was 2 years old. His previous family had to return to their home country and were not able to continue keeping him. We then decided to adopt him and it was one of the best decisions of our lives.

However, in early November, Sudu was diagnosed with DKA(Diabetic Ketoacidosis). This occurs when the acid levels in glucose is high due to its weight and health history. Not only that, but he is also diagnosed with Hepatic Lipidosis(Fatty Liver). Both these diseases are proven to be highly fatal for cats if they are not given the proper treatrment. Even if he were to survive through this ordeal, he will be dependant on medication for life.

Since he is not eating at all recently, the had to put a feeding tube through his neck so that he receives the nutrients he needs. This leads him to be in much discomfort and seem to be in a lot of pain.

Unfortunately, medical costs for animals are not cheap. In total, we have spent nearly $4000. Considering the costs of his hospital bills and the medication he has to take, we will have to spend a large sum of money in the near future.

As the costs will be quite a huge burden for my family and I to carry behind our backs, we have turned to receiving funding from the general public. We want the best for Sudu as we do not have the heart to euthanize him. Any amount will be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much.
