Save Stilts, Diani Kenya

Hello everyone, my name is Wayne Douglas, born and raised in Toronto, Canada. I am the managing director of Stilts tree houses and Flamboyant beach hotel.

Having spent the better part of a decade traveling the world, I found myself in Kenya taking a chance to do something different by starting a new business and essentially a new life. Over the past five years along with my amazing team we have been able to grow Stilts and Flamboyant to an amazing feel-at-home accommodation here on the sandy white beaches of Diani, Kenya.

We’ve been blessed, humbled and grateful for all the amazing people we've met, shared stories with, and created memories with, essentially creating what we call “#theglobalfamily”. We are beyond grateful for all these relationships and being a part of people’s holidays, adventures and memories.

As you're aware we're all in very difficult times due to Covid-19. Currently, we have now been in lockdown for just over one month. As it stands I have managed to avoid terminating any staff member, as well as to continue to pay wages with very little or no funds being generated.

Our mission at this point is to maintain our staff's well-being, their safety, and in essence their survival given that there are no social services in place to support local communities. In addition to that we need to look at the survival of the business such as building maintenance and general upkeep of the properties.

We are now looking to you, our wonderful global family, to support the home which we've shared stories, laughter and in some cases tears.

We would love for each and everyone of you to consider purchasing a beer, a glass of wine or a night in the treehouses in advance of your next visit.

The purchase of these items, are a legitimate purchase. We promise to keep full detailed records of every single item sold and make good on every one of these purchases so that when you do finally make it home to Kenya, your purchase will be waiting for you at Stilts.

We are confident that a bit of help from each and every one of you could really make the difference between such an iconic second home realistically living or dying.
