Save Sophia

   Sophia is a precious sweet 10 yr old cat that has endured a combination of heartache and  illness all within a period of 2 weeks. I inititally took Sophia in when she was about 4 yrs old when the owner could no longer take care of her. I live in NYC in a tiny apt that was not a great place for this lively cat so i gave her to my family back in Chicago. I looked forward to her having a more fun filled life with the other family cat, Angel, a beautiful white cat with enormous personality. Angel was territorial and of course wasnt too fond of younger Sophia but they eventually took a liking to each other and play faught often.

   Tragically, two weeks ago, after a long hard battle with kidney disease, 18 yr old Angel died in the arms of my mother. The family, including my mom, dad and sister were understandably heartbroken and distraught over her death. On top of this, Sophia, missing Angel, stopped eating and drinking almost entirely and walked listlessly from room to room looking for her snow white sister. My family were worried but after speaking to doctors were conforted thinking she was ok as long as she drank and ate a little. Five days ago, my mother found Sophia laying motionless under the dinner table. They rushed her to the hospital where they told her that she wouldnt have survived 12 more hours. She was severely dehydrated and weak. And after a multitude of tests and procedures (including urinalysis, intensive care, thyroid,intravenous fluid therapy,bloodwork, biopsy), the doctors discovered she has cancerous tumors and some liver damage. Doctors wanted to know what the family wanted to do.

   This family could not endure another death after Angel. She stayed in the hospital for 4 days and finally released weakend with low blood pressure to await the doctors treatment suggestion which will most likely be chemotherapy. The total amount of her bills is $3600. not including her treatments to come which per the doctor will be $250 for chemo every 3 weeks. I'm asking for you to find it in your hearts to give a donation to her cause. Angels bills havent even been paid yet and those already have broken us all. If you have ever cared for a pet in your life please remember the love you gave it and how much you want them to live and prosper. Money wont help us heal from Angels death but can help Sophias survival.

UPDATE: Sophia has sadly passed away. Only a few days after coming back home awaiting results from the biopsy, she died at her familys home. The fund continues to help out our enormous debt.
