Campaign Story
We are raising money to save the Phi Lambda Phi house.
Phi Lambda Phi Sorority was founded in April 1959 in Oswego, NY. In May 1959, they were recognized on campus by the Inter-Sorority council. At first, it was difficult for the 24 charter members, or Pearls as we call them, to get a good start. Part of their problem was the fact that they could not enter into any legal agreements including the purchase of a house. In October 1971, their dreams came true and with the help of their advisor Mrs. Whelehan, they purchased the house on West 5th St, where Phi Lamb still resides to this day. The Big Yellow House has been through many changes since it was first built in the mid-1800's but continues to be the home of the sisters of Phi Lambda Phi.
Over the years the sisterhood of Phi Lambda Phi, as well as other greek organizations in Oswego, have seen a drop in numbers. Because of this, Phi Lamb being the only sorority that owns its own house has had a tough time dealing with the upkeep of the house, but with your donation we could help them restore the house little by little to its former glory.
With a donation as low as $5, you could help a sisterhood that has for 50+ years stood for the fostering of the individual, respect for the community and love for each other.
