We have thought very long how to write this plea as we have found ourselves in the hardest situation of our lives. We do however believe that there will be people who can help save our parents’ house, knowing how hard it was to look at this happen to them and not be able to help much.
Coming from working class families in socialist Poland, they have worked tirelessly throughout their lives. They went from nothing to running a small construction company that, at some point, gave jobs to 30 people. They created a wonderful, warm home. Dad built it with his own hands, they refined it bit by bit over almost 30 years of living there. It’s the house we grew up in.
Construction market in Poland is a vicious circle of taking bank loans to fulfil contracts and repaying them with what you earn to get even (occasionally you get a small profit) and taking out loans for the next job. If you break the circle, you are in trouble. This is where our parents are right now, as even though they both own the company, it was dad who effectively ran it. He tried to save it and make it work, but there was less and less hope. It ran him into a clinical depression and he has been in hospital for the past few weeks. During that time he suffered a stroke, the second one in as many years.
Because of that the company could not take up another job they have been contracted for and now parents are unable to pay off bank loans they have taken out for the running of the company. These are secured with the house as collateral.
Our main focus is to get dad healthy again. It is difficult however with the threat of losing the house looming over the family. We know we are asking for much, and as much as we would love to be able to support our parents, we simply don’t have this kind of money. Seeing this happen to them when mum has already reached retirement age and dad is two years away makes it all the more heart-breaking.
We understand that not everyone will agree with this cause. If you would like to help however, please donate. If you can’t, please share this so we can reach as many people as possible. All of the donations will go towards repaying the loans and dad’s treatment and recovery.
