30 year old Mike Johnston from northern Ireland has started working as an English teacher in Thailand last month (3rd jan 2019) and got in a very bad motorbike accident early morning on sunday 10th february 2019. Unfortunately he has no travel insurance so we (employer & work mates) with the collaboration of his family have decided to gather funds to financially help for his care expenses.
Mike is conscious but in ICU since the 10th feb at the general public hospital of Chumphon town. His left leg is severely injured and an amputation is imminent. His Mom (Jillian) and his dad (Michael) are now flying from UK to Thailand. The family does not have all the funds to have Mike transferred to a private hospital in Bangkok where the doctors/care might be more qualified to save his leg from being amputated. Yesterday, 11th february, we were arranging an helicopter to transfer him from Chumphon to Bangkok, but the high cost of this service (250,000thb) will imply that Mike's family won't be able to pay for the rest of hospital expenses in Bangkok therefore it has been decided to opt for a ground ambulance today. Mike does not want his leg to be amputated and neither does his family, if he does not receive urgent medical care his injury is life threatening. We are trying the best we can to get him to Bangkok to have a chance to save his leg.
The total of expenses including ground ambulance, admission fees in Bangkok's hospital (BNH or Samitivej), estimate surgery (vessels and fractures), ICU room, nurse care, doctor's fees etc.. is estimated at 1,300,000 Thai Bath, which is about 32,000 GBP.
We need your donations please, even as little as it is it will help us considerably to save Mike from an imminent amputation. Thank you everyone
