My mom is dying. She has prepared me by saying, that we are lucky, if she lives through 2017…
My name is Adam, I am 16 years old and from Denmark. My mom has suffered from cancer since 2006, and does not seem to make it. The danish healthcare system is very conservative, in the way they operates, and they consider her treatment too expensive. Therefore I have looked if there was any international doctors that maybe would could fix my mom. I found out that a doctor called Thomas Vogl from Germany, has shown some great results with his treatment. I read a lot of success stories and showed it to my parents but they said it is too expensive. I think, the treatment by Thomas Vogl is the last possible way for her to make it.
In 2006 my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. she got a surgery that was successful, we thought everything was fine.
On the 23th of December, 2009 my mom's spleen exploded. They performed a surgery to remove the spleen. Afterwards the hospital did a lot of scanning, to see how the surgery went. The surgery went fine, but they found out, that she had had cancer since 2006 in the liver, leg and breast.
Time passed, but she never complained. She was still the happy mom I knew and loved, but I still knew something was up.
In 2014 her situation got very bad. Her chemo got her very ill, and she started losing hope and becoming sad. It was an emotional rollercoaster for me and my dad. Every time there was hope, bad news surrounding her condition came up. My Father has had a hard time, because of stress, and both my dad and I are facing depression frequently. My dad is old compared to a lot of my friend’s fathers, he just had his 63th birthday. I’m 16, and I’m afraid of losing both of my parents at a young age.
My mother told me this summer that she probably won't make it for another year, unless a miracle happens. That of course made me very sad, but after a month i started seeking out opportunities, because i really want to help her. I work around 6 hours a day beside my education to raise money for my mom’s treatment. But now I realize that I won’t be able to acquire the money needed in time solely from work. I am here in the hope of some generous people, who can help her.
I know my parents won’t make a crowdfunding campaign themselves, partly because they feel it is a personal matter, but mainly because they already have lost all hope, and after working as much as I did, quite frankly I did too. I see this as my last resort.
I really hope, that I can get enough money for her treatment. If we can't get enough I will know, that at the least, I tried. But if I get some money, I think it would be a proper christmas gift, to give my mom her life back.
My mom has appeared in a lot of interviews, because she is holding her head high even during cancer. Here is an example of an article: (The language is Danish, but if you google translate it, you can probably figure out, what it is about.)(http://www.familiejournal.dk/livshistorier/mennesk...)
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
