Marbles Saved!

Update posted by Sorrel Griggs On Jun 02, 2015

Dear Supporters of Marbles,

Thank you, so much, for being here for us when we really needed it.

Marbles had an excellent visit with our Cat Whisperer vet this morning. He was incredibly thorough explaining the nature of the break on the x-ray and confirmed what other surgeons have said: the surgery required would be too invasive, too technically challenging and too high-risk for such a young cat.

The vet also said that although the fracture is nasty, she is still in a bone growth stage and, as long as defecation becomes more regular, she may be able to heal and knit back together, not perfectly but functionally. He was impressed with her general demeanour and has recommended cage-rest for up to 8 weeks, with daily email reports and check-ups when necessary. He came up with a far wider range of options for ongoing care, from enemas to amputation, depending on how she progresses. Ultimately, it is all about Marbles' comfort and quality of life.

We are SO relieved. This has been one of the most stressful periods we have ever known and I cannot thank you enough for your support - mental, physical and financial. Please rest assured this situation will not happen again - insurance has been selected and will be confirmed tomorrow when I get paid!

As Marbles no longer requires an operation, I have halted the fundraiser. Thank you, so much, for being the blanket that caught us; your kindness has been incredible. I would also like to apologise for any distress you may have experienced over the last few days as a result of Marbles' plight; I would like to offer you cake by way of a thank you, please let me know taste preference.

Please contact me so I can return your donation to you directly (Paypal will pinch a bit if I do it that way).

If, and only if, you are completely happy for your donation to go towards the costs of the life-saving care Marbles received at the Barn, please also let me know; I will post a photo of the invoice.

Any funds remaining will be given to the Tailwaggers Club; a trust offering financial support to other animals in Marbles' situation. More info here: http://www.tailwaggersclubtrust.com/ I will post evidence of this donation if/when made.

Thank you again for being so amazing and letting me beg from you for my cat, because I was too sure of myself to get them insured. The roads are not safe, the world is full of scary things and my lesson has been well and truly learnt the hard way and I feel dreadful guilt that I have put Marbles, and you, and the vetinary staff, through this.

Thank you.

And thank you so, so much for all your continued support and energy! Over 760 has been donated by your generous paws and I feel so humble and mind-blown and elated. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

This morning's vet trip was inconclusive; we are now in the process of transferring her to our actual registered vet, who is more of a cat specialist and who have done excellent work with all our cats over the years. They are checking over the notes & x-rays today and seeing her tomorrow morning at the latest, as they don't want her having any unnecessary travel stress today. They may not be able to treat her directly but will be more able to oversee the treatment process. She was taken to and given emergency treatment by the Barn Animal Hospital in Lychpit, so a huge thank you to them for their time and effort with her.

Thank you again, so much, to all you wonderful people and I hope your Monday is most enjoyable. May good karma follow you like a shadow!

Thank you so much everyone for your amazing generosity, raising over 700 for Marbles! So overwhelmed with all the love from friends, family and strangers; the world is a beautiful place, no man can be an island and you are all amazing.

Marbles has had a second bowel movement which is tremendously exciting! Booked in tomorrow morning for further checks and discussions. Fingers' crossed this will be resolved ASAP.

Thank you. Marbles sends purrs.

And it is a good morning - Marbles had a bowel movement at 3am! With no fuss or sounds of pain. This is a very positive step; we are waiting for the vets to open at 11am before figuring out our next move. She has breakfasted, washed thoroughly and is snoozing. Again. We'll forgive her - sleep is a great healer, after all!

Thank you so, so much for everything - all the offers of help and support, as well as the 533 cold hard cash from your pockets. It means more than I can express with words right now. Am making a batch of chilli jam today - if anyone would like some, let me know!

Thank you again, and have a wonderful Sunday.

Good evening!

Thank you all, once again and forever more, so much for all your support and energy for Marbles. We are overwhelmed with the generosity and compassion we have been shown; really really a huge thank you! Current total of 503 pretty much guarantees a deposit is sorted, which is a really positive step. May you all have most excellent karma now and always.

Tomorrow is more waiting games; once everything opens again fully on Monday we'll be able to figure out exactly what's going on.

Well, Marbles may have been sleeping (almost) all day but I must admit, I am knackered. We're going to watch something daft and curl up together through the bars.

Thank you.

Goodness me, 488 raised already! Incredible! Thank you so much everyone for all your support, you are fantastic.

The RSPCA has said they may be able to help with some of the costs; will be talking further on Monday.

Marbles has spent the day resting and is currently enjoying an ear scratch. We are waiting on various vets to check over her x-rays and see if they are confident performing her operation. Roll on Monday! and Think Poo!

Thanks again, so much.

Wow, over 330 donated so far! Thank you so much to everyone who has offered their help, it means so much to all of us.

Marbles has mostly been sleeping this morning, with a couple of breaks from the hardcore snoozing - being waited on hand and foot with delicious cat food & meds. Happy, purring. Still thinking poo.

Thank you so much for an amazing start to the campaign, lovely people! Nearly 200 raised already; I am humbled by the generosity of you all, thank you so, so much.

Marbles is resting happily after some food and water (which sister Hendrix tried to shove her nose in) and has her favourite hot water bottle. We're bedding down in the front room for the night, overwhelmed by the last couple of days and the wonderful people we know.

Bon nuit.

Good luck Marbles. I had the same happen to my cat a few years ago. Cost 2k to fix her. Four ops and numerous xrays. Hope all goes well xx
