I am self-funding a trek through Uganda to see the Wild Gorillas in Bwindi National Park.

The final 3 days of this wonderful adventure will be spent taking part in eco-activities at the Singing Gorilla Project. This special local charity funds and manages community-based projects that improve the welfare of local communities and enriches the lives of individuals. Projects include the Empower Her project, installing water tanks and bio toilets, helping out at local schools, the health centre or music school.

Help me raise charitable funds for Rotary Club Malta (Reg VO/0153)

Rotary Club Malta are supporting the project "Save Malta's Natural Habitats."

Habitat degradation arises mainly from human activity. In the Maltese islands, with an ever-increasing land take and population growth, natural habitats are under increasing pressure. The indiscriminate trampling of vegetation, dumping of rubble and other materials along with the planting or escape of non-indigenous plants also contributes to this habitat degradation.

Once a restoration permit is sought and given on a particular site, invasive plant species must be uprooted and removed, material that has been dumped also needs removing along with any plastic or glass and safely disposed of. Only then can the planting or re-seeding of indigenous plants take place. These newly sown plants are then monitored for several months to ensure their survival. Wied Babu in Zurrieq is one of the sites that Rotary Malta has already restored but there are many others in need of attention.

ALL funds raised during my trip will be given to Rotary Club Malta to support this project.
