Hello everyone,

I started this for our puppy Luna. She is a shelter rescue of approximately 10 months old. She is a Australian Cattle mix, mostly white with red and blue patches. Luna is a sweet puppy. We adopted her on June 8th, 2013, which is barely two weeks ago. She is smart and full of energy. We notice that she is slightly fearful of cars, other dogs and unknow things, but loves people and kids. She even learned to play with our 4 years old cat.

The reason we are in need of this money is for a very unexpected surgery for Luna. The week after we adopted her, we took her to the vet for a physical. At that time, our vet informed us that she has a big lump on her right inner thigh that we should look out for. It doesn't seem to bother Luna at the time, so we agreed to observe it. The days following the visit, we would take her on daily walks. At the end of that week, we took her on a pretty fast walk and longer distance than usual. The following day is when we noticed a limp on her right leg. She didn't want to play that day and would not put any weight on that leg. We knew something was wrong and took her to the vet immidiately.

This is when things turned worse. X-rays show that Luna's right leg was broken. According to the vet, she was likely been hit by a car about 5 months ago. The bone did what it does and tried to fuse back together. The leg is shorter and the only supporting structure of her leg is actually the newly formed bone tissue between the two broken peices.

We are faced with three options: 1. rebreak and plate the bone; 2. amputate the leg; 3. leave the leg as it. The best options for her is to rebreak it and plate the bone, she will have a long recovery but it's the best choice for a young dog. We would love for her to have an active life. The procedure will cost around $2000.00. We want to get her the procedure as soon as possible. We didn't put away enough money in anticipation for this when we wanted to adopted a dog, but we do want to give her a forever home and see her healthy and happy. We are asking for your help, for us and especially Luna. We thank you in advance.
