We are running a weekly raffle to help support our rural development projects in Ethiopia, Kenya and Eritrea.
This week we offer an original Kenyan wire push toy, seen all over the streets of Africa. These push toys, built by children with some wire and thread, are amazing in their simplicity, creativity, and ability to charm children and adults alike. It is a nice reminder to children in America that very little is needed to create something beautiful to play with.
Money goes a long way in this part of the world.
$10 buys a blanket and mattress for an orphan without a proper place to sleep.
$25 buys school uniform and books for an orphan to attend school for the year.
$50 buys medicines and clinic visits for 10 patients in need of modern medical care.
$100 allows Lalmba to offer a microloan to a young entrepeneur with a vision of starting a self-sustaining business.
Lalmba is on the ground, looking into the eyes of the people we help. We offer long-term stability to these impoverished communities---we do not leave within a few years as many NGOs do. We stay until the community has programs to sustain its own health, education and small business.
