Christopher "Chris" Lapuz is a 40-year-old male who is suffering from Tuberculosis, Pneumonia and obstructive lung disease. He currently needs one oxygen tank everyday to survive and 3 doses of Salbutamol nebules everyday and TB medications. His family members include his mother Elvira (59 years old), his live-in partner Mary Ann (42 years old), and seven nephews and nieces. His live-in partner sells refreshments and earns minimally everyday and can hardly contribute to his expenses. Hence, his mother, along with the children in the house go around Sampaloc, Manila area begging for money everyday just to afford the oxygen tank worth Php 370 and the trike fare for the oxygen tank transport worth Php 100, altogether amounting to almost Php 500 or even more, if medications are included. As a result, the family can hardly buy food everyday. The children wake up late to avoid eating in the morning so they just sleep through their hunger. The children don't even have slippers or shoes and have very few clothes. All of them stopped schooling for many years already to beg in the streets for their uncle's expenses. One of the children, Mac-mac, is already 8 years old and has received only kindergarten level education and still cannot read nor write. His mother Elvira, is already suffering from cataract in both eyes (only the right eye was operated due to a charity foundation before that is non-existent now), and his live in partner is also suffering from hypokalemia (low Potassium) resulting to severe weakness of her right arm and leg. Chris was already discharged from San Lazaro Hospital last September 2016 and the hospital no longer accepts him as an in-patient since he will be more prone to infection there than at home. His family are illegal settlers in Sampaloc, Manila and are sharing the house with other people.
This fund raising is primarily for Kuya Chris. Although, we are hoping that PCSO (Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office) will sponsor the oxygen tank, the rest of the expenses are no longer included in the sponsorship. Hence, the money from this charity will be to help buy his medications, as well as build a small business for the family so they may fund their expenses, especially the transport of the oxygen tank to and fro, or if possible, to purchase even a tricycle for the transport of the oxygen tank.
Any help for the mother, Elvira, as well as his partner Mary Ann, or the seven children are greatly appreciated.
