Campaign Story
Please help my friend Jessica save her family!
Jessica is the only provider for her family living in Benin City, Nigeria. As many know Nigeria is a country torn apart by civil war since decades back and there are so many in need of help. I met Jessica in Sweden in 2013 when she had come here trying to find job so that she could provide for her family. Her mother had cancer, her father were very old and there is really hard finding any work for her five siblings back in Nigeria. Therefor Jessica saved up to go to Europe trying to help the family out.
In December 2013 Jessica’s baby sister, 17 years old, gets raped in Benin City. She goes to the police and they arrest the rapist. Him being from a rich family pays the police to let him go and he comes after the sister. She manage to flee and Jessica pays so that she can go to Lagos in Nigeria. A couple of months later her baby brother, 14 years old, is found murdered outside their small house. The rapist and his friends killed him when they couldn’t get hold of the sister.
Last week they also kidnapped, gang raped and murdered Jessica’s sister in law, mother of one 3 year old and one 8 months old baby. The family has been told that they all going to be killed if they don’t send the sister back to the man who raped her. Going to the police is not an option because of corruption; the only way for Jessica’s other siblings is to flee to Lagos as well.
That is why I’ve started this fundraising. Jessica can’t afford to get the family to Lagos and to get them a place to stay. She can’t do it without your help because she herself is sick with seven myomatous uterus and she is in constant pain which makes it very hard for her to work.
My wish for Jessica and her family is to be safe, for Jessica to get well so that she can work and send money to her siblings. And for her to one day maybe go back to Nigeria to visit her parents graves now that they both passed away. Jessica is learning how to read and write, she has never been in school hence she started working when she was 5 years old. If there is any money left I would like for her younger siblings to be able to go to school to provide them with a better future.
Jessica has the biggest heart and is always helping people out, she is so smart and loving and in the future she would like to work with children that has, as she, suffered the terrors of war.
Please support this fundraising. Every amount, big or small, makes a big different for this family in need.
Best Regards,
Jenny
Update 2015-02-20
The children are now, thanks to you, in safety with Jessicas younger sister in Lagos. The brothers are till living in hiding in Benin City waiting to bury their father. They have to pay the man that are hiding them otherwise he will revel where they are. I talked to Jessica yesterday and she is so extreamly greatful for your donations and she says that she want to pay you back one day. I tell her that she will pay it forward because I know that she will help a lot of people during her life time being the kind hearted person she is.
Thank you for your support!
