Save Jamuna Maharjan/Age – 42 yrs. /Cerebral Edema due to High Altitude Sickness

On 10th August my mother has been discharge from the hospital as we could not afford daily expenses at hospital. Now we have brought her at home and assign one staff nurse 24/7 for her care and also arranged one physio therapist. We are consulting with the doctor once a week and accordingly the nurse is taking care of her 24/7. She is getting better but still unconscious. My mother got High Altitude Sickness on 31st May 2022 while going to Upper Mustang on duty. She was brought to Pokhara Manipal Hospital by Air Ambulance as her condition was very critical. After 4 days of treatment in ICU on a ventilator, she got worse and was transferred to Mediciti Hospital, Lalitpur, Kathmandu. Due to High Altitude sickness, she already had cerebral edema and pulmonary edema. She got major brain surgery(ICP), tracheostomy, and thoracentesis to remove fluids and air from both lungs. It has been more than 56 days, she is being treated in Mediciti Hospital and we have already spent more than $35,000/- including Air Ambulance fare. As per the doctor, her lungs are functioning well but her brain has not yet improved significantly and it could take a minimum of 6 months to 2 yrs. to recover. We have spent all that we have and still, the daily hospital bill was coming to an average of $250/-.

I do not have a job yet and my father has also been given the end of service from his employer as he could not join duty for a long time. My mother's health is getting better but now we do not have money to treat her further.

I very humbly request you to please extend your support to treat my mom. I want to see her back to normal life as I have many dreams which I can not fulfil without my mother. Please support us to save my mom.
