According to Al Jazeera up until 15 Nov 2023 more than 10,000 people have lost their lives, with half of them being children. Over 222,000 residential units have suffered damage, and 40,000 homes have been destroyed.

I am Palestinian refugee in Belgium and I have my entire family still in Palestine. The agony of witnessing and experiencing this devastation and loss of life exceeds what is portrayed in the media. Every second of every minute, I yearn for news of the well-being of my family.

Many of my relatives have sought refuge in schools and hospitals for safety and also because they have nowhere to live anymore, as their houses have destroyed. Their access to electricity and water has been severed, and their food supplies are dwindling. Unfortunately, external aid has not reached them yet, as aid organisations are hesitant to deliver assistance and/or do not have the capacity to attend to everyone.

In times of war, people lack the most basic necessities, and those most affected are women and children. Some women are unable to afford their personal essentials such as sanitary pads and now with winter many do not have warm clothes for themselves and their children. Majority of the internal displaced people left their homes without any additional clothing. Children have been sleeping without covers, mattresses, or winter clothes in the rain. Babies are without milk or warm clothing.

My family who are currently in Palestine, have no income and as much they want to help people, they are unable to support themselves let alone others around them. Through this fund, we aim to provide support to women and children by supplying hygiene product, clothes, milk for babies, and food for children. Currently, these are the most critical needs for those taking refuge in public spaces such as schools and hospitals.

Your donation, regardless of its size, can have a significant impact on those most affected right now. I will transfer your assistance to my family members who are actively helping others, and they will ensure the provision of basic necessities for women and children. While this funding may not be able to help the entire nation, it can make a substantial difference in supporting a significant community who are in great need to help.
