Someone doused GABY with motor oil. She came home April 12th, early morning, fully blackened, her body covered in crude motor oil.
She was bathed then rushed to the vet, a lot of the oil still on her fur.
The vet discovered wounds on her paws which I didn't notice in my haste to remove the oil from her body, indicating that she has stepped on something hot which I assume someone had attempted to burn her.
Gaby is a rescue straight from the streets last July 2014. She was found inside a tree bark crying. I had to seek help from a neighbor to extract her as she was deep inside the tree. Before this happened she had always been a very healthy and active cat. She is very affectionate, always ready for a cuddle and a head boop.
She is one of 15 rescued cats which are made sure are fed and sheltered. This unexpected event, on top of the no work no pay because of Covid-19, has made getting funds for her care difficult.
Due to the coronavirus, the vet has also limited visits to Gaby so I am updated by video to check on her progress.
As of now, Gaby has refused to eat because of the oil she ingested. While the vet was doing the tests I was massaging her belly which I could tell hurt.
I ask your kind hearts to help save Gaby so she can come home.
The funds will go straight to do her blood work to check her toxicity levels, monitor her urine output, meds to fight off the sepsis as well as the dehydration, and other required tests.
Thank you so much. May you all stay safe during these trying times.
