Bill Describes his guitar"

This guitar, is in fact, a little piece of history. It was my first "real" guitar. Purchased from Athens, Ga.'s Mike Guthrie in 1991, I have been the guitar's only owner.

History:
I've probably wrote at least 750 songs on her the first 10 years I owned her, maybe more. It It was featured prominently on every Vigilantes of Love album from Killing Floor to Summershine...and on numerous solo albums as well.
Also: It is the guitar that "Earth Has No Sorrow" & "Double-Cure were composed and tracked on. It was also the guitar that played Double-Cure at Cornerstone's 20th Anniversary from main stage. I could go on a long while about this guitar's history.

This 6-string acoustic was used exclusively on 1992's Mark Heard produced "Killing Floor." KF was recently voted as one of Paste Music Magazine's "Top Albums of the 90's). This guitar also has the unique distinction of being played on almost all the tours from 1991-2004. That would be close to 1000 shows. (I've written quite a few songs on her since that time, often using it a high-string/Nashville tuning.) For VoL fans and those who've followed my solo work, there's lots of history here.

Condition:
The guitar is still very playable. It was used it as recently as last year on a few of the WPA Eps. The guitar could use a fret job, at least on the lower end. (I've been too lazy for years to get a proper one done, so I just "work around it.") There are a few belt-buckle scratches on the back, but nothing out-landish. (*The heart-shaped image on the front below the bridge was left-over adhesive from an old "Hole" sticker (Courtney Love's band) that I put on, then removed. I left the image alone b/c I like the heart shape. "Character?" Maybe so. But, the glue is removable, should you wish to "clean it up.")

Neck-truss rod, tuning keys & pick-up are intact & working fine. (In fact, I think the pick-up in this Takemine is the finest "live" sounding pick-up I've owned.) So, as I said, it's very playable. This guitar has provided me with so many hours of joy and inspiration. A joy to write on and to play "live."
