Short Bowel Syndrome. Sepsis. Klebsiella. Dysplastic Ganglion Cell. Blood Infection.

Baby Mary Aimie Ann R. Galang is fighting against all these. SHE IS FIGHTING TO LIVE.

Baby Aimie is 3 months old. She was born on December 9, 2017 at a lying-in clinic in Dasmarinas, Cavite. She seemed normal at first, weighing 3.4kgs. But after 2 days, her parents Mary Ann and Jaime Galang realized she has not pooped since birth. Upon discharge from the clinic, Baby Aimie was brought to the Philippine Childrens Medical Center (PCMC) where she was diagnosed with Short Bowel Syndrome.

At 3 days old, Baby Aimie underwent a surgical procedure called colostomy. After one week, her intestine needed to be cut short. She was stable after the procedure. NICU doctors tried to give her small amounts of breastmilk unfortunately, Baby Aimie's body cannot absorb it.

After 2 months at the NICU, they were given clearance to transfer to a ward. Baby Aimie's mom, Mary Ann, thought everything was fine because Baby Aimie pooped in her colostomy bag. Upon seeing the development, doctors gave Aimie glucose water to which her body responded well. She was then shifted to Pedialite. Again, her organs responded well and Baby Aimie was given breastmilk.

Things went awry when one day, Baby Aimie vomited. Feeding was stopped. But the doctors and he parents never gave up. They slowly introduced feeding again and Baby Aimie's health started to improve.

But the improvement did not last long. Baby Aimie vomited once again, her catheter broke and was transferred to the neck and she had another blood infection. She had infection one after the other. Her health started to deteriorate. She weighed less and less everyday. It came to a point that Baby Aimie's heart rate slowed down.

Baby Aimie is now malnourished weighing only 2.55kgs. She is surviving with medication to help her heart beat and Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) given intravenously to give her the nutrition her body needs but cannot absorb through feeding.

WHAT BABY AIMIE NEEDS RIGHT NOW:
With her prognosis, Baby Aimie needs lifetime Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), which costs about P8,000 to P15,000 per day, to survive and hopefully a private nurse, which would minimally amount to P15,000 a month, who can look after her due to her specialized needs. Their hospital bill is also piling up.

Mary Ann does not have work. She needs to take care of Baby Aimie at the hospital 24/7. Her husband Jaime does not have regular work. He cleans septic tanks on call.

Please share this, donate and say a prayer for Baby Aimie.
