Kuwait's Friday Market is where a number of abandoned, abducted or lost cats, dogs, rabbits and other domestic animals and birds are sold. However, these animals are kept in some of the harshest conditions and are often killed if no buyer is found within a few weeks. A number of cats are kept in small bird cages, a number of rabbits are squeezed into one cage, all animals are kept in rooms where air conditioning is not even sufficient to stand in for a few minutes, Dogs are tied to leashes barely a meter long and are given no freedom to move etc. Despite having multiple animal activists protest and fight against this system, it still runs.
This campaign is seeking to rescue these animals and find them homes locally or abroad, or at the very least free them from the extremely cruel conditions. We realize it is difficult to fight against this system, and have thus, decided to raise enough funds to buy the animals and either find them homes in Kuwait, or send them to countries like USA & UK, where we are already working with animal shelters.
We aim to be completely transparent regarding the use of the funds raised. Our team has been rescuing animals for a number of years now and details can be found on the page 'Q8 second chance animal rescue' on Facebook.
The cost details are as follows:
Cats are sold at Friday market between KD 50-150 depending upon the breed
Dogs are sold at Friday market for KD 200+
Cost to transport 2 cats in one crate (including all costs) is KD 160
Cost to transport 1 dog or 2 small dogs in one crate (including all costs) is KD 220.
Any sort of contribution will make a BIG difference in saving the lives of many animals. Lets come together and make this campaign reach its goal!
