Save Agia Marina’s Iconic Building

One of the most iconic buildings in Leros was built, in the beginning of the 20th century, according to the neoclassical architecture of this period. Later, in the early 50’s, the building was separated in two different properties and only the right part of its rooftop was kept. The building has been hosting restaurants and cafeterias since the 80s. Many generations grew up and have memories in this building. It was a jewel and a basic meeting point for the community of Leros.

Today on February the 6^th of 2020 the building's roof has collapsed down due to fire caused by an electrical short circuit. Two restaurants were hosted in the iconic building of Agia Marina and by this unfortunate event both businesses are in a critical situation, as most of the furniture, kitchen equipment, and goods in general are destroyed. In addition, many families are left out of a daily salary.

Creating this campaign, we deeply believe in people who can contribute to the rebirth ofthe unfortunate building and businesses, by funding the reconstruction of the roof.

Many volunteers from the local community, such as builders and carpenters, have gathered to help voluntarily.
