Satin is a bubbly, well-mannered, and smart baby. That is until one day after her 2nd birthday that she became yellow (jaundiced). We had her checked up and in the span of two weeks, she got admitted 3 times. Her Prothrombin Time got so low she had to get a lot of Vitamin K infusion. All this time, she began to deteriorate from a bubbly and happy kid to an irritable and low-energy baby. She had a lot of laboratory tests done with one blood extraction after another to see which might have caused her jaundice. After what seemed to be an endless amount of laboratory tests, an MRCP, and four pediatric specialists later, she was diagnosed with AutoImmune Hepatitis, a rare case of Hepatitis. We, the parents, are dumbfounded and we don’t know what to do. Our family is a single-income family and we can’t sustain her treatment for long. That’s why we are humbly asking for your help. Her doctor informs us that if she doesn’t respond to steroids, she’ll have to have a liver transplant.
We would really appreciate any help you can give so that Satin can overcome this unfortunate disease.
Update: Satin is currently on treatment with steroids and her dosage is currently being adjusted. She’s excessively hungry and is sometimes irritable. She has gained a lot of weight due to the steroids but also got a lot of steroid acne. We’re still praying that she won’t need to have a liver transplant
