Sarah “Tilly” Grow College Education

Hi, I am Sarah "Tilly" Grow and I want to inspire and motivate people to reach their potential and not give up on their own goals because of an obstacle.  In order make that happen, I will be attending Lebanon Valley College in Annville, PA, to study Physical Therapy and graduate with my Bachelor Science Degree and Doctorate of Physical Therapy Degree through their accredited six year (3+3) program.

Through this career, I want to teach, motivate, and inspire.  I want to be my patients’ coach; I want to teach them about their body, motivate them to take action to get better, and inspire them stay healthy and active.  There are many options with this career.  A few options that I aspire to eventually achieve include the opportunity of working with professional sport teams, military amputees adjusting to prosthetics, and teaching at a collegiate level.  I truly believe that I will succeed because of just that: I believe. 

I also believe that I am very deserving of this funding, not because I am the best at everything I do, but because I strive and work to be the best at everything I do.  I am not a naturally gifted student, but instead a naturally driven one.  I have to ask more questions, make more flashcards, and study longer than my fellow classmates, however, I would not wish it any other way because I have proved to myself that hard work pays off.  Throughout all of high school, I have been able to hold the rank of fourth in my class while challenging myself with four Advanced Placement classes and many other Honors courses along with a busy extracurricular schedule.  From school to sports to choir to volunteering, I am determined and whole heartedly committed to everything I do. 

Therefore, I am determined to eventually make a difference to the bodies and lives of my future patients once I obtain my Doctorate degree.  However, the only thing standing in the way of that goal as of now, is six years of tuition at a current annual cost, with financial aid already considered, of $25,000.  The minimum total of $150,000 is absolutely terrifying due to the fact that I will be taking care of this financial responsibility on my own, without my parents’ assistance.  However, I am determined not to let the cost stand in my way of achieving my goal and will continue to work to make my goal a reality, therefore, that is why I feel that I am truly deserving of this funding!
