Santino’s battle against Leukemia

9 Year old Joaquin Santino J. Monsanto from Motiong Samar is a talented, enthusiastic and jolly kid, an excellent pupil in terms of his academic performance in school, a competitive math wizard who always compete in Metrobank-MTAP DepEd Math challenge since grade 1, a loving and God fearing kid who happens to be my sweet nephew.

August 2017 when Santino started suffering a disease as a symptoms of dengue. He was confined for 1 week in St. Pauls Hospital in Tacloban City and in spite of antibiotics and blood transfusion, there is no sign of progress on his condition. After days of blood transfusion, the doctor who is incharge of Santino requested for a bone marrow aspiration in Philippine Children's Medical Center(PCMC), Quezon City. September 2, 2017, Santino together with my brother in-law, my mother and father arrived at PCMC, results of his CBC shows a very low platelets counts which that time drop to 6. That moment also Santino undergo bone marrow aspiration which confirmed that he has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). For 8 months, Santino undergo the protocol of chemotherapy. June 2018 when Santino was brought back to Samar and was in his maintenance stage, all his procedure shows good results until December 27, 2018, when he (Santino) felt pain on the right part of his stomach. He was brought to Hospital and undergo ultra sound which has normal result. January 2, 2019 was a very painful day for our Santino, he was brought back to PCMC Hospital all the way from Samar due to knees (bones) and hip pain. After another bone marrow aspiration, the Doctors found out that he has relapse which means going back to his chemotherapy protocol, which also means additional fund for his therapy. His parents, me, my siblings and our relatives and friends have been with Santino's fight against Leukemia, supporting him morally and financially but our resources are not enough to sustain his medication. Today, Santino and our whole family are knocking from your good heart, asking your help for Santino's medication and all the procedure. Please be with Santino's fight against Leukemia. Please be with us with this battle. Any help would means so much for Santino's survival. Thank you so much.
