A Chance for Iarina

Hi there! I am Iarina Luchian Cristea. I was born on the 6th of March 2017.

My parents desired me and were very happy when they first hold me in their arms.

Unfortunately, their happiness didn't last long since a few weeks after my birth I was diagnosed with biliary atresia (the absence of bile ducts), a congenital malformation.

My chance was a complicated and expensive procedure performed at a hospital abroad. My parents did everything they could and on the 5th of May 2017 I had a surgery in the Acibadem Atekent Clinic in Istanbul, Turkey.

The surgery took 6 hours and, as doctors said, it was very complex. For me it was like a longer sleep from which I woke up scared because I couldn't see mom and dad. I only saw them after 3 days spent in intensive care. I cried a lot during those days...

My doctor, Mr. Burak Tander, said this surgery saved my life and gave me the chance to grow up until a liver transplantation. I was just glad I could finally go home.

For a few months my visits to the hospital got fewer, I felt better and my life seemed to become normal.

Few weeks before Christmas, my state suddendly got worse. My parents took me again to the doctor. Santa found me with icterus, a cannula in my left hand and with a diagnostic that I don't understand, but it sounds pretty bad: hepatic cirrhosis, portal hypertension, ascites and hepatosplenomegaly.

My only CHANCE to life is an emergency liver transplantation in a hospital abroad. A committee from a clinic in Istanbul agreed to examine me at the beginning of January 2018 in order to prepare the surgery that costs approximately 100.000 EUR/120.000 USD.

For the beginning of 2018 I will in the clinic in Istanbul waiting for the results of the preliminary test based on which the exact date for transplantation will be settled.

Mom and Dad are fighting hard to give me this CHANCE, they have raised part of the money needed for the transplantation, I have a donor, but I need your help too: everyone who can donate in order to save the life of an infant.
