Samantha’s grandmother was diagnosed with a brain tumor, which was Benign but needed surgery to remove it.
Samantha’s mother, Donna, also was diagnosed with a brain aneurism 2 years ago; it also needed surgery to remove it. During the operation Donna suffered a stroke, she spent the next several months at Gaylord Hospital relearning how to do everything that we take for granted; Walk, Talk, Dress, Eat, ect.
Due to such a strong family history, Samantha’s doctors recommended that both she and her brother have brain scans to ensure there were no signs of a tumor. Samantha’s brother was clear, however Samantha was not.
Samantha’s first operation was in July 2015, this was NOT successful. The tumor was wrapped around the brain stem. She needed a second operation 1 month later to try and remove as much of the tumor as possible. Ultimately 90% was removed, 10% remains.
Samantha is still recovering as she was left with many physical and mental challenges to overcome, along with the burden of financial debt uncounted from this life changing event.
This fall Samantha was to enter her Senior year at Quinnipiac University, where she is majoring in Nursing. Her goal now is to return to school next fall and finish her degree to graduate the summer of 2017.
Please help support Samantha’s cause. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
