Samantha Vielle P. Valdez, albeit only ten years old, is an incoming 6th grader at the School of St. Anthony, Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. She has consistently been an honor student and loves to join academic school competitions despite being the smallest and youngest in her class. She wants to be a scientist, doctor, police officer, and model someday. She also loves to perform. Every year she would participate in singing, dancing and a bit of acting in various school activities.
Her love for Science has made her decide to set a higher goal. As I write this, she is in her final days of intensive two-week send-off training under the Asian Math Science League Inc. Philippines (A.M.S.L.I. Phil.) which prepares her as part of a team of students to represent the country for international academic competitions.
Her venture into international competitions starts this July, as she is qualified to participate and represent the Philippines in the upcoming VANDA Science Global Finals 2019 to be held on July 26 to 30, 2019 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. VANDA International Science Competition is held annually around the globe, which focuses on the students’ ability to think critically and creatively to pick out hidden information to aid them in solving questions.
As parents, we would like to give her the chance to pursue her endeavor to the fullest. With this, we ask your kind heart to help us make her goal a reality. Please help us nurture a future scientist, doctor, police officer, and model. Considering that the registration fee amounts to USD 1,030.00 or Php 55,620.00 for every participant and USD 985.00 or Php 53,190.00 for every chaperon, any financial aid is greatly appreciated.
