You may know me as Wian or as SafariWian. I have been presented with one of those once in a lifetime opportunities, where I can get an essential guiding qualification, my Dangerous Game Trails Guiding. This will help me further my career and set me up for years to come as a Safari Guide.

Corona has hit me hard, as with most people within the tourism industry, and I do not have the financial means to grab this opportunity.

The course runs for 4 weeks on a Big 5 Private Game Reserve in South Africa and will help better my chances at finding a decent job again, once the tourism sector in South Africa opens up. The guiding job market is going to be extremely competitive, and I am trying to do whatever I can to stay ahead.

Any donations will be highly appreciated and all of it will be used to fund this qualification.

The funds for this qualification will cover:

All course registration fees and classes
All legal and necessary certification
Exam fees
Text Books and learning material
Food and accommodation for the duration of the course

  • I took a 3-week birding (and animal) safari with Wian in Nov-Dec 2017 to South Africa and Namibia, with several additional days in Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia & Lesotho. It was a fabulous trip in every way. There is no wildlife in the world like in Africa, including large mammals and stunning birds. I have taken birding trips all over the world, and this was among the absolute best. Wian was one of the best guides I've ever used. Don't let his youth fool you! He knows how to find the wildlife, is extremely well-organized, has a great personality and is able to deal with unforeseen situations. Please support him any way you can!
