Sacred Pilgrimage

Please support an extraordinary, historic and sacred pilgrimage by Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo, the first western woman to be formally recognized and enthroned as a Tibetan Buddhist reincarnate Lama. Jetsunma was enthroned by HH Penor Rinpoche, himself recognized as a living Buddha.  She was also recognized by Terton Orgyen Kusum Lingpa as an emanation of White Tara, a female Buddha of compassion who is considered the Mother of all Buddhas and all beings.

Jetsunma has been invited to visit the Guru Rinpoche Temple in Pema Kod, a remote and rugged region of Northern India bordering Tibet, in January 2014. Pema Kod is considered one of the most sacred places in Tibetan Buddhism, particularly for the feminine aspect of the faith.  This is an extraordinary pilgrimage, as the first western woman to be recognized as a Dakini, or accomplished female wisdom holder, journeys to the traditional sacred place representing the feminine divine. Jetsunma will be travelling with her 24 year old daughter, who has received blessings of great Buddhist masters since she was six months old, as well as a handful of Jetsunma’s close female students.

In a time of war, religious conflict and increasing levels of violence against women on a global level, this pilgrimage has special significance. It will bring together the contemporary and traditional aspects of Tibetan Buddhism associated with the compassionate activity of the female principle, which is dedicated to loving-kindness and the end of all conflict and suffering, in one of the most sacred places on our planet.

The pilgrimage will be documented by one of Jetsunma’s senior nuns, who was formerly employed by NBC and British media. We feel it is important to recognize and celebrate the strength and promise of women and the sacred aspect of the feminine, as well as the potential to create a better world through both prayer and compassionate activity.

All contributions are welcome. In addition to our gratitude, sponsors will receive the following gifts.

• All donations $21 and over: a butter lamp will be lit in the Pema Kod Temple on behalf of the sponsor and their family.
• $108: sponsors will receive a frame-able photo taken during the trip. This photo will only be available to sponsors.
• $300: sponsors will receive 5 frame-able photos taken during the trip. These photos will only be available to sponsors.
• $500: prayer flags will be hung in Pema Kod on behalf of the sponsor and their family.
• $1000: sponsors will receive a small Guru Rinpoche statue, blessed by Jetsunma.
• $5000 : sponsors will receive an 8" White Tara Statue, blessed by Jetsunma.
• $10,000: sponsors will receive a USB thumb drive with audio from the trip, including comments by Jetsunma herself.  This will include audio only available to sponsors.
• $21,000 : a short Puja by the traveling party will be sponsored at the Guru Rinpoche Temple in Pemakod on behalf of the donor and any nominated beneficiaries.
