Disease, Accidents-

Disabilities unfortunately happen to families. Most of the time, its without warning too.

some are well prepared for this unfortunate event. Facts show that even the fortunate few who have planned ahead wisely often still underestimate the weight that illness has on their income and resources. These times are painful enough without the added stress of where your family will end up without your financial support anymore.

" Go home, relax. Stress isn't good on the healing process.."

While our government has programs such as Social Security Disability available, one may be devastated to find out that the average wait time is at least 4-8 years before being accepted to recieve disability. All the while unable to work at all. Even a few hours a week will cause a decision of denial regardless of their "gainful employment" rules. In fact they will tell you that "just about everyone is denied the 1st few rounds"..and that " they make everyone appeal at least once before granting benefits, if you are lucky."

"Lucky? What about being sick? Isnt that why they should grant it? Lucky?"

The reason this is so dear to me is because this is my existence and has been for about 4 or 5 years now while battling lupus and m.s.

In fact, today i still am wondering if my last appeal has been denied or approved. Years. no income at all. $0. A few weeks of homeless times and in winter too. Hungry times. No car. No Phone. Not everyone has a spouse to help carry the load. Or wealthy family and friends who dont quickly get overwhelmed at the very start of your fight .

Humble? Yes. Very. It strips your very soul from the right to ever ask for help again. I had no idea so many in our own country could be ignored and expected to prove their disabilty to such an extent as to end up homeless, penniless, hopeless and still denied. Forcing their health to decline or sadly at times even the fight is lost while waiting for their $600 to $700 monthly check , hardly worth the struggle.

If they had a choice, im sure, most would rather work then suffer all this poverty for such a meager reward. In fact they did. Each one paid into disability each check before being sick.

But...

It seems No one notices or cares these american, tax paying, citizens suffer increasingly more in every aspect.

Ive looked out of personal need for our family but i haven't found aid to those sick but still awaiting disability. Life or Death is the matter at hand in most cases.

I aim to burrow deep into the hearts of as many people as possible because i see people as a whole often can look the other way..but individually..we all know some one who may be here too.

They do not want your help, no, they desperately need your help.

Perhaps they have not asked you yet? pride isn't the issue. The issue most likely is one of fear of asking for help. they don't want to scare away any more of their support system. Desperately trying to salvage your place in their dwindlin list of friends.

Now that I have suffered this, I Plan on doing all the fundraising I can to assist anyone who finds themselves in this situation..as we are still in currently. With your help maybe we can give peace to a few in need by covering their heat bill or buying them laundry detergent, etc.
