Rupesh’s Participation in Individual World Poetry Slam

Hi!

I am Rupesh,

A Spoken word poet and teacher based in Kathmandu.

And I have a plan.

I will represent Nepal in Individual World Poetry Slam-2019, competing with some of the best young contemporary poets from around the world for the title of "Individual World Poetry Slam Champion-2019."

Sounds like a dream, doesn't it? A 24-year-old from the hum-drum streets of Kathmandu representing the country in an international poetry competition, in a language that isn't ours?

But it is happening. I am participating in the slam happening in San Diego this September 26-28th. And to be honest I have done similar things before. I was a winner in Pangaea Poetry Slam-2016, hosted from the UK. My poem was also an honorable mention in Button Poetry's worldwide video contest 2018. And can you believe it? This poem from Kathmandu, was the only one from the whole continent of Asia, to make it to the list this year. Apart from this I am a two time regional slam champion and a National slam finalist.

Coming back to my plan, I will be flying to San Diego, USA to participate in the slam this September. The whole travel, stay and lodging should take me about 2600$. And here is where I could use your help.
